Customer satisfaction and on time delivery

David Oppenheimer Transport (DOT) is picking up the pace of produce transportation in North America. Our East and West Coast transportation organizations work with a network of trusted trucking providers, delivering Oppenheimer produce from our packing sheds direct to retail distribution centers and stores.

DOT works closely with sales, operations/quality control and accounting/administration and employs a network of independent trucking companies and niche drivers. Trucks are booked on demand, as orders are received, to allow for maximum flexibility.

As retailers are ordering more, less than full (LTL) truckloads with greater frequency, DOT is accommodating, readily combining shipments from multiple sources. Customer satisfaction and on-time delivery are the main goals.

In accordance with our food safety and security policy [Link to Food Safety Page], all trucks are sealed after loading, and seal logs are carefully maintained. All port facilities, cold storage locations and loading docks are strictly monitored for security. Recent advancements in radio frequency bar coding and information technology are also enabling better tracking and traceability of shipments.

A little history

DOT East was established in Wilmington, DE, in 1992 to coordinate all truck bookings and ground shipments for our East Coast U.S. business. In the last decade our West Coast business has also grown, spurring the start of DOT West, based in Los Angeles, CA, in late 2001. Recently, our ground transportation network has expanded further to include cross-border shipments and deliveries throughout North America, including Mexico and Canada.
