Receiving and Inspecting:

Select kiwifruit that is mature but not overripe. Kiwis should be clean and uniform in shape. Avoid fruit that is shriveled, wrinkled, or decayed with internal injury, broken skin or other damage.

Note that gold kiwifruit carries lower pressures than green, requiring more careful handling and quicker movement through the supply chain. Gold kiwifruit is ripe and ready to eat upon receipt, while green often requires ripening.

Merchandising:

Most North American consumers are not aware that there are two varieties of kiwifruit available in the summertime. Promote the difference in color and flavor between tangy-sweet green and tropical-sweet gold kiwifruit with signage and cellophane-wrapped slices, and taste samples.

Build large, bulk displays with gold and green side by side. Position with summer fruit like peaches or plums.

Merchandising materials like header cards, leaflets and cut-and-scoop Spife® utensils are available for display with ZESPRI™ GREEN and GOLD Kiwifruit. Contact your Business Development Representative for details.
