Gerry Smirniotis
Vice President East Coast & Stone Fruit Category Director
With nearly three decades of produce experience behind him, Vice President East Coast Gerry Smirniotis provides strategic guidance to staff in our Wilmington, Chicago, Tampa and Miami locations; he also directs the stone fruit category for our company
He has been a manager at Oppenheimer since 1990, first joining us in sales in our Wilmington office and bringing expertise in Chilean fruit marketing to our business. Two years later, Gerry relocated to California, working in our Visalia and LA offices and helping our company grow cohesively throughout the U.S. In 1994, he returned to Wilmington to manage that office, and was promoted to be director of East Coast sales in 2000.
Three years later, Gerry became the east coast general manager. During his tenure with Oppenheimer, Gerry has been active in marketing Mexican grapes in Nogales, and South American "air" stone fruit in Miami. In 2004 he was elevated to his current role, ensuring that all sales and operational functions in our East Coast offices move in a coordinated effort toward achieving our strategic goals while also ensuring our company's 52-week supply of premium stone fruit.
Prior to joining Oppenheimer, he also held sales positions with Calavo Growers, Inc., Superior Farms, Inc., Richland Sales Co., and the Dole Food Co.
Gerry is a member of the Eastern Produce Council and is an avid fisherman.
