Results/Outcomes

The quality control assistant provides support to an assigned office for the quality control department, and plans and organizes own activities so that multiple requests for information are dealt with in a timely and courteous manner, and that information and data are accurately processed.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Organizes and assists with selection, packaging and shipping of sample orders.

Audits QC supplier web site reports and photos to ensure they are posted, timely, and accurate. Maintains QC supplier web site e-mail notification lists (ongoing maintenance, start of the season review).

Services grower-specific QC requests (e.g. inventories, QC statistical reports). Ensures growers are being notified (e.g. in cases when they want a non e-mail notification).

Assists in QC inspection setup (report generation, data manipulation). Maintains QC procedural documentation. Monitors and records product temperature. Coordinates organic related issues (segregations).

Manages repack (temp) staff timesheets

Assists with maintaining food safety/security documentation at storage locations. Coordinates audits (Food Safety type ‘walk about’).

Answers phones and route calls and/or requests. Maintains visitor’s log.

Aids visiting exporters/inspectors with special requests (i.e. running daily inventories, investigating daily product sales) in particular during the SAM deal.

Maintains inventory on/off hold status for section 8E kiwi, GRE, ITA, NZP, especially equipment calibrations.

Experience
• 1-2 years of related experience in quality inspection and control in the produce industry

Skills & Technical Knowledge
• Knowledge of standard office practices, methods and equipment
• Beginner level knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
• Ability to handle a high volume of telephone calls and in-person requests in a customer service environment

Credentials (DESIRED)
• Degree, diploma or related industry training in agricultural practices, post-harvest technology
